The ideal candidate will be a cheerful person who will assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational/therapeutic activities to meet the residents’ interests and needs. This role is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who has sound knowledge of therapeutic recreational programs for residents with Alzheimer’s and Dementia or related diagnoses. Reporting to the Recreation Manager, you are able to work independently and utilize your own initiative to lead group and individual activities. The successful candidate has experience in a long-term care setting, is a graduate of a recognized course for Activity Assistants, and has current first aid and CPR certification. This position requires working part-time flexible hours, including various days and evenings.
Drawing on your extraordinary organizational and communication skills, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting in identifying and assessing the residents’ needs and developing fulfilling activities based on this judgement;
- Encouraging and recording resident participation in programs;
- Assisting with the timely creation of monthly activity calendars.
