This role is an exceptional opportunity for an energetic, self-motivated team leader with related experience. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and the Vice President, Human Resources, the incumbent will be responsible for the oversight and strategic direction of the accounts payable, payroll, and billing/accounts receivable departments.

 

The ideal candidate possesses:

 

§         A professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA), or equivalent work experience;

§         A post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration, finance, or a related field;

§         Eight (8) – ten (10) years of management experience; experience in a public company is preferred;

§         Experience in leading business process improvements and system conversions;

§         Experience with PCPW, EZ Labour, Point Click-Care, Hyperion, and Yardi is preferred;

§         Effective communication skills that include excellent written, oral, presentation, and training abilities;

§         The ability to organize and prioritize work to mange timelines and to meet defined deadlines;

§         Demonstrated time management skills in a fast-paced work environment;

§         Innovative and creative problem solving skills combined with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team of multidisciplinary professionals;

§         Strong knowledge of internal control practises (Bill 198, Sarbanes-Oxley);

§         A good understanding of collective agreements, employment standards, and payroll legislation;

§         A demonstrated understanding of the Tenant Protection Act;

§         Professional knowledge of the seniors housing industry;

§         Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of ERP Software;

§         Bilingualism in French and English will be considered an asset.

 

Based on Chartwell’s business plan and corporate goals, the successful candidate’s key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

§         Overseeing the accounts payable, payroll, and billing/accounts receivable function for Chartwell’s long term care operations and retirement operations teams;

§         Identifying and recommending areas for improvements in the accounts payable, payroll, and billing/accounts receivable departments and providing oversight for implementation of these improvements;

§         Providing oversight to the implementation of new billing, payroll, and payables systems;

§         Providing oversight and review of accounts payable, payroll, and billing/accounts receivable practices to ensure that residences/homes meet all financial, contractual, and regulatory requirements;

§         Developing and maintaining relevant policies and procedures;

§         Monitoring legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to regulatory reporting, including federal and provincial regulations.
