The Tim Horton Children´s Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to providing an enriched and memorable camp experience for children and youth who come from economically disadvantaged homes. The THCF is currently recruiting qualified:

 Food Service Staff

 Positions available:

Camp Des Voyageurs Tim Horton in Quyon, Quebec & Tim Horton Memorial Camp in Parry Sound, Ontario

 Contracts available up until August 2010

 Residential accommodations may be available

 Cooks

Summary: Reporting to the Food Services Manager, this position will prepare meals and cook for guests at camp as well as provide supervision and guidance to the Food Services team. The successful candidate will have an option to enjoy onsite living accommodations during their employment term.

 Qualifications:

  • 1 or 2 years of training in commercial food preparation
  • Solid knowledge of food preparation, serving, and kitchen procedures
  • Training and experience in cooking for large groups
  • Solid arithmetic skills and attention to detail
  • Willing to work as a team
  • Bilingual in French/English preferred in Quebec

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, season and cook foods such as soups, salads, meats, fish, gravies, vegetables, desserts, sauces and casseroles.
  • Create decorative food displays.
  • Study menus to estimate food requirements and obtain necessary food from storage or suppliers.
  • Ensure that sanitation and "Serve Safe" standards are maintained.
  • Count inventory and order supplies as necessary.
  • Ensure the overall smooth and safe operation of the kitchen during a meal including washing dishes and tidying.
  • Act as a team player and support the kitchen team as needed.

 Food Services Assistants

Summary: Reporting to the Food Services Manager, this position will support the smooth operation of the kitchen through assisting with meal preparation, meal service, and clean up. This position will also assist with kitchen and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Desire and interest to work in food services
  • Ability to learn and complete tasks as assigned
  • Flexibility and willingness to work within a team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables as needed.
  • Ensuring the kitchen and dining areas are kept clean and orderly, including dishwashing, mopping and vacuuming.
  • Ensure food stock is in good supply, rotate stocks as requested.
  • Act as a team player within the kitchen and support the team as needed.
  • Provide feedback to Food Services Manager on continuous improvement initiatives.
