Lead Operator - Bantry

AltaGas Income Trust is one of Canada’s largest and fastest growing energy infrastructure organizations. The Trust creates value by acquiring, growing and optimizing gas and power infrastructure, including a focus on renewable energy sources.

We are currently seeking a Lead Operator for our Bantry Sour Gas Facility, located 25 km East of Brooks Alberta. This role will provide support and resources to Operations to ensure a heightened safety culture and promote operational excellence. The successful candidate will work directly with the Field Foreman to ensure all facility activities are within government codes, regulations, and site specific operating permits and procedures. This position requires a 10 hour shift comprised of 8 days on, 6 days off; living accommodations are provided on-site.

Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to the following:
• Operation of field and plant equipment including fractionation, compression, dehydration, acid gas injection, sweetening/amine, refrigeration, injection wells and gathering systems;
• Optimize plant maintenance and process control systems for improved reliability and efficiencies;
• Maximize the Field Gathering and Processing (FG&P) assets ROI by continually initiating reductions in operating costs and maximizing process volumes through increased reliability;
• Work in a team environment both in the field and Calgary office achieve district goals;
• Ensure employees and contractors receive the necessary training they require to do their job in a safe and competent manner;
• Develop and support an operating culture which is accountable, collaborative, and entrepreneurial with a focus on safe, reliable and efficient operations;
• Provide supervision and direction in absence of Foreman;
• Promote the FG&P business to existing and new customers;
• Maintain high communication levels with our customers at the field level to ensure their needs are satisfied and to help promote future business;
• Maintain business processes and systems for Operations that will include conformance to all existing management systems and programs related to EH&S and Regulatory;
• Ensure facilities are operated in an environmentally sound manner and meet or exceed all government and industry standards, regulations and are in accordance with AltaGas internal code of practice;
• Help support new projects in the district by providing input on new design and participating in HAZOP reviews;
• Preference will be given to candidates with the following certifications/training: First Aid; WHIMIS/TDG; Defensive Driving; Confined Space Entry; H2S Alive; Ground Disturbance Level 2.

Qualifications:
• Minimum Grade 12 education;
• 4th Class Power Engineering or equivalent technical degree, preference will be given to candidates with 3rd Class;
• Minimum 10 years oil and gas operations experience, sour gas experience an asset.
