Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Based on Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT’s business plan and corporate goals, the Vice President, Sales and Marketing will be responsible for the leadership, management, and strategy of sales and marketing functions for the organization. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations, the Vice President, Sales and Marketing will direct and support corporate sales and marketing initiatives to achieve optimal occupancy performances in Chartwell’s retirement residences and long term care homes while maintaining financial accountability to related annual budgets. In addition, this role will be responsible for driving continued strategic growth in the area of sales and marketing. The Vice President, Sales and Marketing will work closely with our Operations teams to represent Chartwell’s interests with joint venture partners for all third party/new development projects from the conceptual and planning stages through the design, construction, and lease-up/stabilization periods.

 

The ideal candidates will possess:

 

§         Five (5) – seven (7) years of progressive senior leadership experience in sales and marketing. Experience in the seniors housing industry is expected;

§         Experience working in a sales environment to identify sales trends and successfully achieve established sales targets;

§         Experience working with mature adults and seniors in a related setting in a management capacity;

§         A demonstrated understanding of the aging process and its significance to seniors;

§         A post-secondary diploma or degree from a recognized institution in marketing, business administration, or a related field. Professional memberships with related organizations and/or associations are considered an asset;

§         Effective communication skills that include excellent written, oral, and presentation abilities;

§         The ability to analyze and interpret information contained in business related documents, write reports and business correspondence, and effectively relay/present information accordingly;

§         Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively and build relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization; the ability to formulate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and joint venture partners;

§         Effective and creative problem solving skills combined with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team of multidisciplinary professionals;

§         Strong and timely decision-making abilities;

§         Demonstrated time management skills, including the ability to adhere to schedules and manage processes; the ability to organize and prioritize work to manage timelines and to meet defined deadlines in a fast-paced work environment;

§         The ability to manage and resolve conflict;

§         The ability to train and educate adults;

§         Professional knowledge of the seniors housing industry and operational management skills;

§         Proficiency with MS Office;

§         The ability to participate in extensive travel; a valid provincial driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is required;

§         Bilingualism in French and English will be considered an asset.

 

Practising our corporate values of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. and drawing on your excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

§         In collaboration with the Vice President, Operations, Ontario, provide strategic management to regional teams (sales and marketing/operations), General Managers, and Marketing Managers/Community Relations Managers to ensure alignment with Chartwell’s business plan and corporate goals;

§         Develop and approve annual marketing budgets and reviewing quarterly marketing plans for all retirement residences and long term care homes. This task includes, but is not limited to, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting expenditures from funds allocated to the marketing budget;

§         Reviewing monthly financials to ensure that each residence/home is in compliance with the annual marketing budget; addressing variance issues with the operations team;

§         Measuring the overall effectiveness of marketing plans and implementing improvements, as necessary;

§         Providing leadership, direction, and training of Chartwell’s sales process;

§         Preparing and monitoring an annual G&A budget for the sales and marketing department;

§         In partnership with the Vice President, Operations, Ontario, directing weekly sales follow-up meetings with regional teams (sales and marketing/operations), General Managers, and Marketing Managers/Community Relations Managers;

§         Conducting market competitive analysis and utilizing learned information to develop strategies to determine pricing, service models, and related corporate programs;

§         Managing and participating in the development of all marketing collateral material, including website content, print and radio ads, folders, inserts, pamphlets, promotional items, yellow pages, and directories;

§         Actively participating in weekly management/leadership meetings to provide updates regarding sales trends, marketing events, and other related information;

§         Developing and fostering corporate partnerships to promote Chartwell and its residences/homes;

§         Supervisory responsibilities include recruiting, training, and developing staff; assigning and monitoring work; providing guidance and direction and evaluating performance; ensuring staff maintain a healthy and safe work environment; resolving employee conflicts and recommending/participating in disciplinary and/or termination actions.
